Club Náutico de Camariñas
The Camariñas Ría opens to the south of Cape Vilán. Cape Vilán, if you come from the north, and Touriñán if you are coming from the south are the two milestones for the recognition of this ria. Between the tips of Mount Farelo and the Punta de la Barca, open to the northwest, and with 2 M of cove is the Camariñas ría. Opposite the mouth, two shoals (Las Quebrantas and Leixón de Juanboy) mark the entrance. We’ll navigate the Canal of Las Quebrantas, coming from the north and protecting the Bufardo shoal, until the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Monte bears to 135º, facing the bow towards it until on the leading line of Vilán at 015º with Punta del Cuerno, steering to 179º with the Muxía church at the bow. Passing between the Farelo and the Quebranta Chica until reaching the mouth of the River Ponte do Porto. Here, at 108’5º, point the bow to the leading line of the Punta del Lago, to the north and south of Castillo Novo, steer towards the port’s breakwater.
The De la Barca Canal: is broader and better for naviation. Navigate until you have Punta Villueira with Punta del Castillo Novo and the mouth of the River Ponte do Porto at 082º, then steer with the bow towards Punta Villueira until the Muxía church is seen at 179º. From here, navigate using the above directions. Sailboats should not attempt the passage between Las Quebrantas unless the sea is good with good sea and steady winds from one direction.
